How to Recertify for 2024

This page is for any referees who have been certified in the last 3 years (2021 at the earliest) and are looking to recertify for the 2024 registration year.

If you started a Grassroots First-time referee course since July 1st, 2023, your certification automatically extends to the end of 2024 so recertification for 2024 does not apply. Please return here for 2025 recertification next year. You can still attend any in-person recertification clinics (Step 2) as a training opportunity.

Referee (formerly known as Grassroots)

Recertification is a 2 step process that includes:

1. Register for the appropriate 2024 Course on the US Soccer Learning Center

    • You will pay for the course
    • Complete ALL necessary online modules through the course’s Assignments tab
    • Ensure all safety and compliance modules are valid and up-to-date

2. Attend an in-person clinic component as part of the recertification

You will officially be licensed as a 2024 referee upon the conclusion of the clinic, where badges will be distributed.

  • your USSF ID.

You can recertify via the appropriate Learning Center course and you will be expected to attend a special Adult Referee clinic (there will be a few offerings) if you haven’t already attended the August 2023 Regional Camp. This will be announced in late-January and clearly differentiated from the regular recertification clinics.

There will be an in-person clinic for mentors and referee coaches to be announced soon. Check back here for updates.
